Mark A. Johanson, Founder, President, & CEO

Mr. Johanson has 21 years of experience in the medical device industry. He founded Scandius BioMedical (2000) and led the company through an acquisition by Covidien (2007). He raised more than $20 million in financing from leading VCs while managing all aspects of Scandius’s operations including R&D, strategy, sales, IP, and business development. He is an accomplished entrepreneur with 19 issued US patents in the areas of orthopedics, cardiology, biomaterials, and surgical methods. He is also a Founder and Director of Parios Regenerative Sciences, Inc. and Fortia Medical, Inc., both medical technology companies. Prior experience includes: Innovasive Devices (acquired by Johnson & Johnson), Medtronic Vascular, NutraMax Products, and GTE Government Systems. Christopher J. P. Velis, Director

Mr. Velis has been involved in the creation and sale of over 30 orthopedic companies and has served as an investment banker to venture funds and high tech and med tech firms for 19 years. His firm, Medical Capital Group, specializes in medical technology financing, investment banking and med tech company creation. He previously founded another medical start-up, Auris Surgical Robotics. Prior experience includes: partner, board member and managing director of investment banking at Healthpoint Capital, head of medical technology investment banking at Brown Brothers Harriman, partner at Mirus, and corporate finance at Merrill Lynch. BS University of Massachusetts-Amherst; MBA Boston University

Robert J. DePasqua, Director

Mr. DePasqua has 41 years of broad management experience building, restructuring, advising, and investing in early and mid-stage medical technology companies. He is an experienced CEO with 30 years direct executive management experience involving establishing and directing successful entrepreneurial organizations in private and public companies, including Founder & CEO of the Microvasive Endoscopy Division of Boston Scientific. He raised over $35 million in venture capital for a number of private medical device companies and lead a $36 million IPO while CEO of The Spectranetics Corp. Whitney K. S. Herchek, Director of Advanced R&D

Ms. Herchek has been an integral part of growing Audax’s technology to present. Her academic and professional work experience has been focused in biomedical sciences, specifically Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
